Two National Restaurant Chains Adopt PURE® Hard Surface Disinfectant as a Food Safety Solution

September 07, 2016

PURE Control® Listed in Latest USDA/FSIS Update

SAN DIEGO (Sept. 7, 2016)  PURE Bioscience, Inc. (OTCQB: PURE), creator of the patented silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial, today announced that it had shipped orders for SDC-based PURE®  Hard Surface disinfectant to two national restaurant chains for use system wide as a food safety solution. Both restaurants (a leading Quick Service Restaurant [QSR] chain and a leading casual dining chain) completed previously announced testing/evaluations of PURE Hard Surface disinfectant, and have now placed initial orders totaling more than $250,000. They have each indicated that they plan to use PURE Hard Surface disinfectant system wide on  multiple  food contact  surfaces, as well as other surfaces susceptible to Norovirus contamination.

Hank R. Lambert, Chief Executive Officer, said that, Use of our PURE Hard Surface disinfectant helps provide safer food for consumers and supports a restaurant’s brand protection. These restaurant chains recognize both the importance of using PURE Hard Surface disinfectant to replace less effective, toxic legacy sanitizer products in their stores - and the added value of PURE’s uniquely effective Norovirus elimination.

“We estimate that these two chains could generate over $1 million in combined annualized revenues. Four additional restaurant chains are in the midst of the product evaluation process to establish the benefits PURE Hard Surface disinfectant can provide them as a food safety and brand protection solution,” Lambert concluded.

 Powerful Green Antimicrobial Technology

PURE Hard Surface is distinguished from sanitizers being used in restaurant chains today by providing broad disinfectant-level pathogen reduction, including against Norovirus, without the requirement of rinsing food contact surfaces after application.

PURE’s powerful SDC antimicrobial is distinguished as a fast acting eliminator of microorganisms (including Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobactor and Norovirus) and other foodborne pathogens with the lowest toxicity in restaurant operations - increasing consumer and environmental safety.

PURE Control® Listed in USDA’s FSIS Directive Update

PURE Control, the Company’s second antimicrobial food safety solution, is an FDA and USDA approved non-toxic direct food contact intervention to dramatically reduce pathogens including Salmonella. PURE Control is now listed in the August 25, 2016 revision to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Directive 7120.1, “Safe and Suitable Ingredients Used in the Production of Meat, Poultry and Egg Products.”

As previously announced, PURE received a “No Objection Letterfrom the USDA’s FSIS granting approval for SDC-based PURE Control to be used as a spray or dip applied to poultry carcasses, parts and organs in pre-OLR (on-line reprocessing) and post chill processing of fresh poultry. PURE continues its on-going plant trials to optimize the application of PURE Control in OLR to gain USDA approval for use in that stage of poultry processing.
