Mid-Continent Packaging Supplying SDC-Based BioSilver Disinfectant to Private School Bus Companies in New York City Area; BioSilver Meets Specifications of EPA and CDC for H1N1 Disinfection
SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 7, 2009 – PURE Bioscience (NASDAQ: PURE), creators of the patented silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) antimicrobial, today announced that one of its distributors, Mid-Continent Packaging, Inc., is supplying the SDC-based BioSilver® disinfectant to several private school bus companies in the New York City area for use in routine disinfection of busses.
BioSilver meets the recently published specifications by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for infection control of the 2009 H1N1 flu strain based on its effectiveness against other Influenza A strains.
Steve Epstein, Vice President of Mid-Continent Packaging, Inc, noted, “We’ve been aggressively marketing to school bus associations, school districts and national organizations to educate decision makers about BioSilver and its applicability to disinfect busses, classrooms and common areas without the need for personal protective equipment. Even more importantly, because it is odorless and an EPA Category IV product, BioSilver is an ideal choice for use in children’s environments.”
Epstein concluded, “The fact that we are a bricks-and-mortar manufacturer of liquid products puts us in the category of “low cost supplier” of this product. Furthermore, we leverage our locations across the country to provide cost-efficient and prompt distribution.”
